There have probably been more articles and talk about this subject than we will ever be able to read, but I would like to throw my two cents in, and I think what I have to say may surprise some of you, especially my wife.
When we think of the work force, we usually always think of the male figure. The men have dominated over the women in this area for decades. The man was always looked at as the provider and protector of his home and his family. Women were the care takers and the ones who made the house a home to live in.When I grew up, my mom was always the one who greeted us as we came home from school. Later my dad would make his way from his office and that's how it was.
Well the financial landscape has changed dramatically since that time. Women have made great strides in the market place. There are women who are CEO's and hold high positions in some of the top companies in the world. It has been a huge struggle and the battle is not over. The corporate, 9 to 5 job world, is a struggle for anybody, especially for women, in today's economy.
Their pay scale is usually not on the same level as their male counterparts. They usually have a family, waiting at home, that still has to be taken care of. They are more likely to be overlooked for that new promotion, simply because of their gender.
